What cookies are

A cookie is a small text file a website asks your browser to store, so it can recognise you on a later visit. They are the usual mechanism behind logins, shopping baskets, analytics and advertising.

What this site uses

Nothing. Annandale Websites is a hand-built static website. It sets no cookies, uses no local storage, loads no third-party fonts, scripts, tag managers or advertising pixels, and makes no requests to any other domain.

That is a deliberate choice rather than an oversight. It keeps the site fast, keeps your visit private, and means we don’t need to interrupt you with a consent banner before you can read a page.

What our host records

Our hosting provider keeps standard server logs, which may include your IP address, the page requested and your browser’s user agent. That is a normal part of serving and securing any website, it happens at the network level rather than through cookies, and we don’t use it to build a profile of you.

The enquiry form

Submitting the contact form sends your details to us through our form provider. It does not set a tracking cookie. The provider may use short-lived technical measures to guard against spam. What we do with the details you send is covered in our privacy policy.

If this changes

If we ever add analytics we will use a cookieless, privacy-respecting service. If we ever added anything that genuinely required a cookie, we would ask for your consent first and update this page before switching it on.

Controlling cookies yourself

Every major browser lets you block or delete cookies for any site — usually under Settings, then Privacy. Blocking cookies entirely will break parts of many websites, though it will make no difference at all to this one.
